South Devon AC’s Grand Prix series continued on Sunday with the Tavy 7 which was also hosting the Ross Shield. Spring Marathon season is well under way with South Devon AC runners competing at Brighton and Paris marathons. Alex Magee and Fiona Stephens braved the cold and windy conditions at Brighton with Steph Bartlett and Chris Shuttleworth aka Balloon Man travelling to Paris for the marathon there. Hills were name of the game for a busy weekends racing for SDAC runners. The first race on Saturday was the Looe 10 Miler race with some big hills followed by the Hameldown 7EVEN a 7 mile race on Dartmoor on Sunday which saw the first race win for Liam Lindon and some club members taking on the double (well done to George Holman and David Cubberley). The Lopwell Loop was the first STORM running club race and the approximate 7.5 mile route is around picturesque country lanes starting in Tamerton Foliot and is a hilly, challenging course to Lopwell Dam and back. Armada Autumn Trail in Plympton forms part of the SDAC Club champs. Jeremy Goddard completed the 7 mile course in 53:31 and was 1st V50. Rick Martin was not far behind in 56:47. The Hippo is a 12K very muddy multi-terrain event and there was a great turn out from the club due to the fact that it is race number 4 of 12 in the clubs senior grand prix series of 2018. Some South Devon runners chose to run the Cockington Christmas Caper a tough 7.2 miles of mud and hills around Cockington in Torquay, a superbly run event with a mug and some Christmas cake for all finishers!
