In an outstanding performance of endurance and determination two SDAC runners completed The Arc of Attrition race at the weekend. The Arc is run by Mud Crew and is one of the hardest 100 mile races in the UK and one of the premium events on the UK ultra calendar . It runs from Coverack to Porthtowan on the Cornish coast path and has tight cut offs. Mark Stockman and Marc Jones contended not only with the harsh terrain but the severe cold, hail and rain and realised their long held ambitions to finish. To even finish a race that averages at least a 50% DNF rate is a great achievement but both were well inside the final cut off with Mark Stockman in 30th place in 31 hrs 19 min an Marc Jones in 62nd place in 34 hrs 47 minutes. Only 66 of the 167 starters finished the race this year which underlines what a great achievement it was for Mark and Marc.
