Results - week ending 8th September 2019
Another busy weekend of racing for South Devon AC runners with local races and overseas adventures.
Kevin and Laura Ashworth teamed up to take on the Budapest half marathon which runs along the river Danube taking in the city sites. Finishing in 01:36:26 they were 41st out of 943 teams and 15th in their age category.
Saturday was the City to Sea marathon running from Exeter to Babbacombe – four South Devon runners ran the marathon with Steve Hookins first back in 05:07:41. Steph Bartlett took on the 34 mile, ultra-version of the race finishing in 10:26:54.
Sunday was the next wildcard in the clubs GP series with the Dartmoor Volcano run by Puretrail. A tough 10.5 mile tour of the southern Moor, with over 500 metres of ascent. It visits the high points of Pupers Hill, Snowdon, and South Dartmoor’s highest point – Ryders Hill and of course the infamous Red Lake Volcano. The race is a bit hilly but you’re rewarded with great views over Dartmoor and the local area. Two SDAC runners - Alex Magee and Colin Peters made the top ten with Alex just pipping Colin to be first back for the club.
