Results - week ending 15th September 2019
Another good week of racing for South Devon AC with races ranging from one mile to ultramarathons. On Thursday it was the annual Club mile race round Paignton green, it was an ideal night for running with a keen wind down the back straight and a tailwind on the home straight. Some great times were run with three PB’s recorded, Dave Hampton and Michelle Cowley were the fastest male and female. Thanks to Alan for organising and the team of volunteers helping him.
On Saturday there was several races with the Cream Tea Caper at Exeter being the local one. Steve Hookins completed eight laps to tick off another marathon distance in his quest for 100 marathon membership.
Marc Jones went off to Wales to compete in the 10 Peaks set in the Brecon Beacons. It’s a tough 89km course with nearly 5000m of ascent and requires self-navigation and an extensive kit list. Marc had a great race and finished in 15th in a time of 21:29:26.
Jeremy Goddard ran the Chiltern Wonderland which is a 50-mile loop taking in the scenic paths and trails around the Chilterns and Thames Valley finishing 40th in 9:22:39.
Of course Saturday is also parkrun day and as well as the usual suspects at our local parkrun as well as some parkrun tourism, Hannah and Lauren Carr both ran Hereford parkrun and both set new PB’s.
