Results - week ending 22nd September 2019
Sunday was the next race in South Devon AC’s Grand Prix series at the Killerton 10K. Torrential rain just before the race didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm and fortunately the rain stopped and held off long enough for everyone to get around the course. The course is a series of loops and switchbacks through the grounds and woods at Killerton house with plenty of hills and some slippery descents. The race is run in a series of waves so despite Alex Magee leading our wave from start to finish sadly he was officially second overall. Some great performances in the race with Michelle Cowley first lady, some runners returning to racing from injury and an epic sprint finish between Dani and Antony Waters. Thanks to Antony for organising entries and ensuring that everyone (apart form a couple of late entries) was in the same wave.
There was also plenty of parkrun activity at the weekend – lots of SDAC runners at our local parkrun and some people enjoying a spot of parkrun tourism. Guy and Lorraine Henderson travelled to the scenic Tamar Lakes parkrun and Kevin and Laura Ashworth ran the Gdansk parkrun.
