Juniors Results - w/e 24th April 2022
It was a very busy weekend for South Devon AC Juniors. Saturday saw a South West Sprints & Hurdles session at Tavistock track led by Martin Owens, regional coach, with a key focus on core stability, core strength and both block and crouched starts.
Lauren and Isla work hard during the 3 hours of training, with coaches Vince and Steve also picking up valuable advice.

Sunday saw SDAC Juniors visit Braunton track as North Devon AC were hosting the first of their Devon Opens, a series that runs through the summer letting athletes try new events, seek PBs or to see where they are in their training cycle.
Even Steve Carr competed in the shot, javelin and discus events!
That said, despite a very strong headwind affecting the athletes on the home straight, great performances were achieved by Oscar, Grace, Hannah & Lauren. Oscar won his 100m heat in a new PB of 00:14.88, came second in his first ever 200m 00:31:21 and won his shot put pool with a great throw of 6:52. Grace was third in her 200m race 00:32:33. 1st in U17 shot put and had 3 strong jumps in the long jump. Hannah scored a PB in shot and was second. In high jump she recorded a PB and was third and in her 300m heat and despite the headwind was 0.5 second off another PB. Lauren was second in her hurdles, despite having to vault a competitor who rolled into her lane after she fell at the first hurdle and run into a -5.2 headwind and also managed to secure second in her 100m 00:14.78 and 4th in her 200m race 00:31:24.

It was a great day of competition and determination at a lovely track. Well done to all SDAC athletes and thoughts to Hayden who couldn't attend due to illness - speedy recovery!
