A great turnout by South Devon Athletic Club on a very hot Friday evening saw 14 runners ready to face the Chudleigh Carnival Road Race, a popular and well-organised 5miles 905 yard race starting and finishing at the Bishop Lacy.

Kevin Ashworth was first home in 24th place with a time of 40:14 followed by Antony Waters (42nd in 44:01), Dani Waters (55th in 46:38), Jeremy Goddard (57th in 46:46 and 2nd in his age category), George Holman (62nd in 47:33), Kerry Bell (66th in 48:29 and 3rd in her age category), Laura Ashworth (71st in 48:56), James Nash (85th in 51:23), Lorraine Henderson (89th in 52:26), Guy Henderson (90th in 52:27), Mark Holman (109th in 56:00), Roger Webb (118th in 01:02:49 and 2nd in his age category), Alison Ford (119th in 01:02:59), David Cubberley (126th in 01:11:57).

Great running by everyone in very challenging heat.

The following evening saw 255 runners attack the infamous Haytor Heller, hosted by the Teignbridge Trotters. The 6 mile race starts below Haytor rock and takes in several steep ascents and descents and is run across rugged, open moorland with a stream crossing. Tom Atwill finished in 113th place with a time of 01:06:43, again in very hot conditions.
