Event 270 - Saturday 22nd July 2023 - South Devon AC Takeover Run Report by Theresa Gunnell By a tourist from just 180 miles (274 km or 55 parkruns) away.
This was my first run here but my 56 different venue and my 67 tourist adventure. In the title I have written just 180 miles away because the RD told us we have tourists from Lytham St Anne's, Birmingham, Luton, California and New Zealand however looking at the results we had 44 first timers with 9 of them James HATTON, Jolie HULBERT, Mark LING, Maggie BOWMAN, Clive PALMER, Darren BROWN, Nikola VEALE, Kelly GOODYEAR and Natascha WAHL being parkrun newbies WELCOME you your Saturday obsession.
Tourist Edward JOHNSON-KOLB was first man home closely (4 seconds) followed by newbie James. Naomi FLANAGAN was next leading the female charge.
We had a few milestones Alix RIPLEY, Jenny MANSELL and Antony JOYNER join the 25th club. Celia MIALL and George CROME join the 50th club. Don't forget to order the tee shirt be proud of your achievements.
Lewis KEYWOOD needs a shout out for a time of 22:22 two times two little ducks for any bingo goers.
I see a couple of palindrome 23:32 Robbie TUCKER, 32:23 Nigel PROBERT that's another 5k app challenge completed.
Chris RANDALL and Rachel LONGTHORPE both recorded 23:23. Stephen WILBRAHAM and Andy TINKLER crossed together recording 25:25 I bet the timekeepers loved you four.
In all 298 people walked, jeffed (look up Jeff Galloway if you have never heard of this) jogged and run with at least two pushing buggys this morning. We were all kept safe by the 41 Volunteers from South Devon AC here in part to promote a 3k 4 leg relay race here at the Velopark on the evening of 11th of August. Talk to your running friend and see if you can get a team or a couple of teams together, yes some people will take it very seriously, but I'm sure it will be a fun night.

Without the volunteers parkrun cannot take place if you have not volunteered in the past please give it a go. For the faster of you you can run and then scan others. Others like me writing the run Report or giving the first timers briefing means you can volunteer and run. Please talk to the core team about the different volunteering roles.
